Download Rockbase Player For Android 2.1 works on Xperia X10 plays AVI, MKV, DIVX & RMVB
I’ve already posted you about the Serious Flaws in Mediascape on Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, and then what Alternatives we have for the Mediascape in Xperia X10. The Alternatives were good enough to find your best Music Player on Android, but most of it couldn’t be a good video player. Except the yxplayer which lets you play DivX on your Xperia X10.
Android has been on the weak side for Media Capabilities ( Does not support DivX, MKV, RMBV, AVI, etc. )ever since it has been launched. But then it wasn’t long when developer came out with Alternatives like yxPlayer which plays DivX.
Recently I found a new video player in the wild which always claimed to work on devices with Android 2.1 and above and also supported various popular video formats. It’s like CorePlayer on Android. ( If you know about it! ) But, I discovered that this Video player works really smoothly on Xperia X10 and does qualify for being the best Video Player around. ( Not considering the looks and navigations )
It’s the RockBase Player for Android 2.1 ( and works perfectly on Xperia X10 ). RockBase Player for Android supports AVI, MKV, DIVX AND RMVB.
You won’t find it in market as it’s in Beta Stage and has a long way to go before it reaches the Android Market. ( If you can’t wait for it to arrive in the Android Market, keep reading you might get the Download Link!

You might not be very pleased with Frame Rates of .mkv and .mp4 files but then it’s still in beta phase. It’s developing and hope it will produce much better results.
I dragged and dropped my movies from computer to the SD card of Xperia X10 ( with DivX and MKV formats ) and it played really smoothly on my Xperia X10. Any Format can be stretched to Full Screen and quality seems to be okay.
I’m loving it as i don’t have to convert any Video File on my computer and it plays without any hassle. RockBase Player for Android supports AVI, MKV, DIVX AND RMVB.
It works on Devices with Android 2.1 and above with few Exceptions Like Xperia X10. It also requires a strong hardware and processor to smoothly play the Videos. And it works differently on different devices ( according to hardware configuration and Processor power. ) But, it’s a Must Must Have for your Xperia X10. Do Download it and give it a try and let us know your experiences with it.

Hey Manish, i have some questions regarding the phone i downloaded some applications from your site on my pc then i connected my mobile to it and through el office suite i copied the applications and pasted them in my mobile but i can’t find them on the memory card plus the memory card is empty even though i have some music files every folder i try to open it it says no supported files and regarding the applications i can’t find them neither i tried the astro file manager i didn’t understand what it does! i still can’t find the applications also is there anyway to clear my recently viewed photos or create folders to put in them different pictures?! I’m sorry i know i’m asking alot but this phone is too much complicated!
It’s not so complicated! Let me make it simple for you!
- After you put the Apps on your phone( Lets say you put it into “Apps” folder on your SD Card, now using Astro File Manager go to the Apps folder and tap on the App, you’ll get two option, select the 2nd one ( app Manager ) and then install.
- If you want to put Pictures on separate folders, you can find them at DICM folder of your SD Card, manage your pics from there.
- You might need to disconnect your phone from the Computer to make SD card available to your Phone. ( or you can UnMount your SD Card otherwise. )
- Mediascape doesn’t support all file formats, ( Like it doesn’t support DivX ) so you won’t be able to view File types which are not supported by Mediascape. ( Even if you put them on your SD Card! )
Hope that, helps! If you have further questions, feel free to ask!
yeahh that really helped!
i managed to install the applications as for the mediascape i meant the recently viewed pictures can i delete them without deleting the picture from the phone? oh and i faced a problem today i was downloading from the market today everything was ok i’m using internet connection not wifi so after i downloaded the apps. i closed the connection but when i tried to connect again it says network error! i tried turning the gps on and off and still i get the same message!
I don’t think you can delete them form the Recently Viewed List without deleting them from the Memory. Although, you can delete the Timescape Tile of Recently Taken Pics and Videos without deleting it from the Memory.
( I’ll try to find a workaround to see if Recently viewed Pics in Mediascape can be cleared. )
And For Internet connection, how did you turn it off? You can use the Data Toogle Widgets. ( Else Restart the Phone, everything would be fine. )
We can turn off the internet connection…by going to
settings—-wireless controls—-mobile networks——mms and data
If we uncheck mms and data..internet connection will turn off
Aslo i had install “Application Installer” from andriod market.
App installer gives u all the application file which are der on your SD card.
Also the battery was charged for about 40 percent then suddenly a message came out when i switched my phone on saying 2 percent only remaining i don’t know if the program of the battery itself didn’t estimate the percentage correctly or it’s a battery problem.anyways thank you for your support Manish
No i don’t think it’s a battery Problem. I guess you are using a task killer app and that is killing your battery process in the Background and it is hence it could not update to the latest battery level. I guess that caused the confusion.
You can open you task killer app from the menu and then tap the Battery App and exclude it from task killing list.
I turned the gps and data off from the wireless settings i don’t know if that’s right but i thought this is the way i restarted the phone but still i get network error i don’t even get the 3G icon on top i’m with QTEL shall i contact them or it’s a problem with the phone?
I guess you enable 3G from settings! Go to Settings -> Wireless Controls -> Mobile Network Settings -> Network Mode to GSM/WCDMA preferred.
You can also turn on the Data if that is disabled.
It’s enabled
still no sign of network:S i don’t think i messed up with the settings or something
I’ll show you the settings that are configured on the phone
MMs&data(that’s the one that i kept turning on and off trying to get a connection)
network mode: The one you said
Network operator: i set it to automatic
access point names: dunno what’s that
Auto internet settings i checked that box and everything was installed
still no signs of anything
You should set up APN settings by clicking the Menu button and adding a New APN, or editing an existing one. For APN settings, contact your Network Operator. APN settings are the settings for Internet and Data from your phone, through the Network Provider.
Hey Manish i set my APN setting and the network works fine right now
but i have two questions i had my credit charged and i downloaded some applications suddenly i got a message that i ran out of credit?! Is that because of the net i didn’t know it consumes that much second i came to switch sim cards the battery was charged to 57% after switching sim cards it became 50% !!! I don’t know what’s wrong with this phone :S
hey manish…
I recently install Real player beta ver for my xperia x10…..any difference in Rockbase player and real player?…
which one is bettter in ur view?
RockBase Player Of Course! It can play many a file formats. But then, it’s still in beta, so you may encounter bugs. And Real Player also offers you to video your Pics and Play Music, while RockBase Player is only intended for viewing Videos.
Thanks Manish…
Any software to convert dvd’s into file formate which can be viewed in xperia 10?
I guess real player does it all for you. Check about it, here!

hi manish,
just got a doubt. in all phones we have a Music player separately. Here in Xperia x10 we have mediascape which is a tool . do we have a separate music player in xperia as we have players separately in all other phones!!
You can download any music player form Android Market. And there is the default music player in Xperia X10 as well, but it’s hidden, you can access it via Adtro File Manager.
