Root your Xperia X10-Video Instructions and Sorting Problems with Rooting X10

Yes, XDA members who rooted the Xperia X10 had released the Rooting Instructions for General Public. But, since they made their own bat and exe file to automate the Rooting process for general users, ( or perhaps to keep the source away from Sony Ericsson’s eyes! ) many non-techy users are finding it difficult to follow their root instructions. I’ve made a Simple and Easy Rooting Step by Step Guide to your Xperia X10. But that is not too different than the original one as i can’t help it either. The whole process is automated.

- After Rooting my Xperia X10 says, it’s on Firmware R1EA018? Can i upgrade to R2BA020?
Your Xperia X10 is on R2BA020. It’s the first step where you flash your Xperia X10 with R1EA018 that hard-codes the system file to make it appear it’s on R1EA018, although it’s on R2BA020. SO, don’t worry all the New and Exciting Features of R2BA020 is on your Rooted Xperia X10. It’s just the Software.

- I can’t find my Device ID? As Explained in the Howto.txt!
Theres a workaround to find your Device ID using Device Manager. Follow the Steps,
- Connect your Xperia X10 to your Computer and Mount the USB Card from the Notifications Bar at the top of your Xperia X10.
- Right Click on your My computer Icon, and Select Manage.
- From the new window that just opened, Select Device Manager from the Left Panel.
- On the Right Side, at the bottom you would notice Universal Serial Bus Controllers, Double Click on USB Composite Device from the expanded list.
- A New Properties window will PopUp, ( Check if it says Sony Ericsson X10 in the Location Field )
- Select the Details Tab from the Top and then check your Device ID from there.

- My Keyboard not Showing after I rooted my Xperia X10!
Many users are facing this problem after Rooting their Xperia X10. The root cause of this problem is still unknown but try these steps to enable it for now.
- Goto Settings-> Locale and Text -> HTC IME – Enter and Exit that Menu once.
- Open any Input Filed that requires keyboard ( Messages or Search or anything ) -> Select Input Options -> Select HTC IME

- I want Mediascape. It’s not that bad!
Yeah, i know. And i don’t understand why they did it that way. Wiped out all the SE apps on their own. If you don’t want some of the apps to be wiped on their own, you can simply skip step 4 in the Tutorial process. And nothing would be wiped out of your Xperia X10, and you would be having the liberty of wiping out the apps that you don’t want.

- But, I’ve already followed all the rooting steps and there are no apps, can I restore Medisacpe?
Yes, you can! Just follow the steps,

adb shell mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system
adb shell dd if=/sdcard/apps/MediascapePluginManager.apk of=/system/app/MediascapePluginManager.apk
adb shell dd if=/sdcard/apps/MediascapePluginManager.odex of=/system/app/MediascapePluginManager.odex
adb shell chmod 644 /system/app/MediascapePluginManager*
adb shell dd if=/sdcard/apps/mediascape.apk of=/system/app/mediascape.apk
adb shell dd if=/sdcard/apps/mediascape.odex of=/system/app/mediascape.odex
adb shell chmod 644 /system/app/mediascape*
adb shell reboot
