Customize the Boot Animation on Rooted Xperia X10-Tweaking & Customization Tip

Android is so in Stone Age, when it comes to Theming ability and Customization. Although, you have Some apps which does the job for you,( thanks to Open Source! ) but you still have nothing in-built. Oh, yeah you can change the wallpapers! Gimme a break! I want to get rid of those default colors in Menu and everywhere! Give me some customization options! Okay, it is too much to ask for at this moment and considering GingerBread is supposed to be ironing out need for Custom Skins, we might finally get the Theming Ability in Android.
And for now, if you are bored of the Custom Blue skin everywhere in your Xperia X10, try ignoring it as we don’t have a solution yet! Damn!

But if you Got bored of the Same Boot animation on your Xperia X10? We have a pretty easy solution to this! But, you got to be rooted! ( Non-Rooted Xperia X10 Owners can try, as i can’t confirm as this point! But it seems like non-rooted phones have only read permissions ). Before i tell you how to change the Animation Files of Boot on your Xperia X10, Let me tell you how does it shows up the animation at the Boot.
Generally, there an animated gif or png file is used for Boot Animation in Sony Ericsson ( Java Phones ), but in Xperia X10 Android phone, they have changed the Boot Animation type by using a set of png files that makes it look like a animation similar to a Flip-Book.

How to Replace Boot Animation Files on Xperia X10
- Using any of the methods above, Go to System -> SEMC -> Startupshow -> Default.

- You’ll find 30 png files inside default folder. Delete them all.
- Replace them with your set of png files and remember to rename your files as startupshow_00 to startupshow_29.
- And also keep your png files in 854 x 480 resolution.
- For an example, you can use the Xperia X1 Boot Animation as your Boot Animation on your Xperia X10 with the files attached.

Remember thats just an example, you can use any png file for your boot animation, even your pic! Keeping the same png file won’t make it look animated like the “flip-book“. But you can use those 30 image sequence to make your animation. Get creative and get going!
