There is a lot of excitement in the air for the Xperia X10 owners in the expectation of Android 2.1, Eclair firmware Update for Xperia X10! Now Interesting screenshots of Android 2.1, Eclair on Xperia X10 started to appear on the internet! These Screenshots are from a Chinese website and some taken from XDA Forums. These screenshots shows many features of the new update for Xperia X10 that is due by the end of September! 🙂 Have a look at the screenshots first,

And the most Interesting of them, showing Timescape Widget that can do much more now! 🙂

The Timescape Widget is much more useful now and is scrollable and you can post your updates directly from the Timescape widget without going into Timescape.Even, you can flip tiles at the screen, similar to X10 Mini. Infact, it looks like they have ported whole of X10 Mini’s Timescape on X10’s homescreen as a widget! Here is a direct quote from the one who posted the screenshot at xda!

Well I can say is Timescape widget will be more useful in displaying information as it is scrollable without having to fully go into Timescape appl. The X10 might get some features that appeared only on the Aino (not that we really use it, but hey, it’s SE)

The Quick Access widget has also changed and looks really cool to me! It also show the battery left in percentage and blocks. There would be Google Voice enabled so, the Google search widget looks different.
The Launcher doesn’t look too different from the default Stock Android 2.1 launcher. It just have a blue background. ( which might be interchangeable as per Timescape Themes ExtensionRead More! )! But yeah, the launcher has now 4×5 grid of icons than the previous of 4×4 icons! Here’s a screenshot!

Sony Ericsson has Back Ported a lot of things from android 2.2, Froyo in this update. No details yet to share, but will keep you informed once i can! This points out another reason on why Sony Ericsson won’t upgrade Xperia X10 any further after Android 2.1, Eclair! Sony Ericsson Russia tweeted recently that the “update is sooner than you think”! 🙂 So, i guess Android 2.1 on Xperia X10 is not more than 2 weeks away from now!

I’ll keep you updated on any further info about Android 2.1 Eclair on Xperia X10. You can also share any info on the Update in the comments section. Any Input will be greatly appreciated! Keep an eye on this thread or follow us on Twitter and Facebook. 🙂

  1. Hey Manish, I’m so excited about android 2.1 but i have a question,I’ve been facing this restart problem with my mobile i guess you heard of it because i found out that many people are facing this problem anyways will android 2.1 solve this problem or should i send it back to the service center?

      1. My mobile suddenly kept restarting specially after updating to R….26 but i don’t know if this update caused the problem it keeps restarting for about 7 times then i have to remove the battery i tried factory data reset still the same problem exists let me know if you reach any solution thanks manish.

      2. That sounds really strange! I don’t think it’s the firmware, as this firmware never gave me such issues! It might have to do with any app, or the hardware! I would recommend you to wait for Android 2.1, Update for Xperia X10. And if doesn’t help, you’ll have to get it repaired at a Sony Ericsson Service Center near you! 🙂

  2. hey manish.. thanks for the update… i want to know if my SE X10 mini pro will be updated with HD video recording?? also with the upcomin update will i be able to save my apps on SD card??

  3. Hello Manish, first off superb website with vast info! Keep it up. As for my phone I’m currently with Rogers in Canada X10a R2BA020, newer builds aren’t available here I assume due to Rogers (my phone carrier), Rogers has also confirmed no 2.1 for their X10’s until Q4!!! I know you don’t recommend it, it voids the warrenty and I’m at my own risk but would rooting or debranding allow me to recieve the OS update when released sooner in Q3? If so, which option? Thanks!

    1. Thank you for your kinds words!
I guess Rooting won’t help! De-branding might be the solution! I say “might be” as Sony Ericsson would have fixed the loophole that made us use the De-Branding! Will let you know if that still works with Android 2.1 Update! Watch this space for more info! Additionally, you can join us on Facebook and Follow Us on Twitter! 🙂

  4. Hi Manish,
My name is Kumar. I am from Malaysia. I would like to congratulate you for your effort and wish you good luck for the future.

I have an X10i with Firmware 1.6, Baseband 1.1.25, Kernel 2.6.29 and R2BA020. When I first bought the phone, I wan unable to either turn on the WIFI or the bluetooth. I brought it to my dealer and after a software update the problem persisted. Than they changed the ‘motherboard’ of the phone and the problem solved.

Then I noticed another problem but I am yet to bring it to my dealer. The issue here is, none of my apps will want to connect to my 3G data service. Facebook, Youtube app, email, gmail and all the apps that require to connect to the net would only connect through WiFi. Only the browser connects to my career’s 3G data service. Even then, I am unable to download anything, even a photo, from the net to my phone, using the 3G line. However, if the browser connects on WiFi, the downloads through browser works fine.

Do you know whats the problem and is this common?

    1. I guess, you are not using the correct internet settings! Talk to your Network operator about this, or you can use the Over the Air Settings by Sony Ericsson, here in this post! ( somewhere around the center of the post! )
Send Over the Air Internet Settings to your Sony Ericsson Phone from Sony Ericsson Website,
