Xperia X10 Whitepaper Revision 6 for Android 2.1,Eclair-No 16m color,Flash & More

[toc]I’ve previously wrote about the Un-Official changelog of Xperia X10 and the features that Xperia X10 family might get in the upcoming Android 2.1, Eclair update for Xperia X10. The update is expected to be rolling out by Last week of September!

Sony Ericsson Recently Published 6th Whitepaper Revision Of Xperia X10. This is a great source to get an idea about the Recent changes in Xperia X10′s Firmware. The Main Changes listed in this Whitepaper Revision are,
- No Adobe Flash Support
- No 16m color Support – Apparently Still on 64k colors
- Screen type : Capacitive ( Single Touch )
- Pan & Zoom : Double Tap Zoom – No One Finger Zoom
- 32Gb External SD Card Support – Previously 16Gb

You must be wondering about the 16m color support that i confirmed 100% and is still 64k in the Official Whitepaper Revision of Xperia X10! I was shocked too! I mean the One who tried android 2.1, Eclair Hands on didn’t count the Pixel himself but he definitely noticed a sharp, brighter and gradient free screen! It was definitely there in the Phone he tried. Obviously it was a dev phone and had a beta Firmware running on it. So things might change when it actually comes out! Well, it seems that Sony Ericsson has decided to go with 64k support in this update and they might roll it out in the UXP Update( 2nd phase of android 2.1, Eclair Update in Dec ’10 )- Only if they Update to 16m colors. :(

Other important change that is to be noticed is the DoubleTap Zoom. One finger Zoom has not been yet implemented yet. I guess this one will definitely come with the UXP Upgrade. I mean, there is simply no reason for Sony Ericsson to not include it in the UXP Upgrade if not now!

First and Second Revision of Whitepaper of Xperia X10 also mentioned Max External Memory Support as 16Gb while in this Revision Max External SD Card Support for Xperia X10 is 32Gb. This is not supposed to be leveraged from any Software Upgrade. I mean this is a Hardware Specific Feature, so this is got to be there in the Phone from start! There was a rumor from beginning that Xperia X10 supported 32Gb SD cards, but Sony Ericsson Denied it! ( almost! ) And now they come up with this Whitepaper Revision!

NO 16M COLORS!!! this is ridiculous, what they think they are doing? NO FROYO update and now 2.1 update in parts….. no wonder SE has such a bad name when it comes to after sales service, either buggy software or limited features,…. when are they going to learn!!!

  • This will be my last SE phone i am a big fan off Sony products but now i,m getting angry. i,m trying sell my xperia for a Samsung galaxy s or Black berry

  • tis is crap….y give a 32 gb support wen u cnt move app2SD…..tis is not an update….to be honest…..

  • ghostrider says:

@manish…. Hi manish, see i had told you that i had emailed SE and they had told me that there wont be 16M colours in this upgrade but you didnt trust me brother. Now u can see it for yourself…. Anyways its a disgrace to such a beautiful phone to stay wid 64k colours…. I dont see the point in keeping int 64k when it can reach 16m… May be SE has another ideas or may be they try to first annoy the customers and then try to make them happy by rolling it out in second upgrade…. But i definitely dont see the point or reason to keep it 64k

  • I believe they have an option to move apps to sd card….I just seen it earlier this evening.
Now, on to things more important….NO 16M COLORS IS A GOD DAMN FAIL SE!!!!!!!! Its taken you guys this long to release 2.1 and you can’t even give it to us in one shot…you have to give it a phase 2. Jesus christ, get your shit together and deliver already! Is it really that hard to satisfy your customers???? Wanna hear something funny? today my gf updated her HTC Magic to 2.1!!!! WOW! even HTC Magic owners have received 2.1 before us. SE you guys are a piece of shit!

  • I wonder why the hell is SE giving an update. Better they don’t give any update and stop with their chain of outdated Android handsets. They are charging the customers like anything and giving away outdated stuff and now outdated updates. I still feel that I should have wait more time and bought an HTC Desire instead for less money and more features.

  • I hope SE will go bankrupt i,m really angry

  • Have some questions to ask :

    1) Will updating to 2.1 improve the Wifi connection? I getting a 1 bar connection from my room, and always disconnect. My internet modem is quite near to my room. My laptop in my room can get a full bar connection

    2) Is there anyway to off the display without locking the phone. Sometime I been smsing and it’s kind of irritating that I had to unlock the phone everytime I wan to reply. I rather let the display on but it kind of draining the battery.

    3) After updating to 2.1, will the in stock homescreen enough? Do i need to install other homescreen for better performance and battery life?

    • - I don’t have that Wi-fi Connection issues, so get it checked with a Sony Ericsson Service Center near you!
      - I don’t think so! Disabling all the locks would still bring up the Swype Arc lock screen!
      - This can only be tested once the final version of the update is rolled out! Battery performance would be better in Android 2.1, Eclair firmware update on Xperia X10.

      • I get full bar connection when I just beside the modem. About 4 or 5metre away, I get a 2bar connection and sometime 1 bar and may disconnect. So it’s not normal?

      • I get full bar connection when I just beside the modem. When around 4 to 5 metres away from it, I only get 2 bar, sometime drop to 1 bar and sometimes disconnected. Is it normal? My sis laptop get a 3 bar connection, while my laptop get a 4 to full bar connection. All at the same place.

      • That might be due to the range of your Wi-fi Router! And do you use a Hard Protector on top of your X10? That might be the reason as well!

      • Nope I never use a hard protector. I think closing my door is also a factor that affect the Wifi connection. Thanks for the clarification (:
