Android 2.2,Custom Froyo Rom for Xperia X10-Download,Install,Discuss & Troubleshoot

Android 2.2,Froyo Custom Rom for Xperia X10 has been released now for the General public by XDA Guys. They have done quite well to make this custom rom more usable. This only an pre-alpha release for Xperia X10 and they are working hard on it to make it more bug free and usable on a day to day basis. For now, the pre-alpha release is a must have and you should try it once at least. The reason i’m recommending this is just because of the ability to dual boot plus you can un-install this anytime within secs. 🙂

The only bugs as stated by official post of this pre-alpha custom Froyo rom for Xperia X10 are,
– no Audio playback (voice calls work)
– no native Video playback (RockPlayer works)
– camera – not implemented yet
– random reboots (identified – WIP)
– random lags (identified – WIP)
– slight radio issue – voice calls – sometimes (1 out of 25-30 for me) both you and the other person sound like a chipmunk (identified – WIP)

I have installed the Custom Froyo Rom on my Xperia X10 and it has been great since then, except a few minor bugs that almost everyone is facing. But i seem to have found workarounds for these bugs. I can switch to my original Rom anytime without any problems with just a reboot. 🙂 I’ll try to sort out every problem you face while installing this Custom Froyo Rom on your Xperia X10 plus will also let you know about workarounds to get those minor bugs ironed. 🙂

Problem : How to fix the wi-fi issue after installing android 2.2, Froyo Custom Rom on my Xperia X10?
Description : It has been found that almost everyone is facing this problem after installing the custom froyo rom on their Xperia X10. Wi-fi doesn’t turn on giving an error or if it turns on it can not scan for your Home or Office Wi-fi.
Fix : This can be fixed by following these steps,

– Install Titanium BackUp in your Android 2.1, Ecalir SE Rom and then go to Menu -> Batch and run ” BackUp all user apps + system Data “.
– After the BackUp is Complete, Start your Xperia X10 with Android 2.2, Froyo Rom and then install Titanium BackUp in this as well. If you can’t get to install it let me know in the comments, i’ll guide you through installation of apps through adb.
– Open Titanium BackUp and restore ” Wi-fi Access Points ” from the main BackUp/Restore Screen or going into Menu -> Batch and then selecting Run ” Restore all user apps + System Data ” but uncheck all other except Wi-Fi Access Points.
– Restart your Phone in Froyo Rom and enjoy the bug Free Wi-Fi Again. 🙂

Problem : There is no Lock Screen nor the Home Button works on my Custom Froyo Rom in Xperia X10?
Description : This is similar to the wi-fi not working in Custom froyo rom in Xperia X10 and almost all users are getting this problem where there is no Lockscreen and home button doesn’t work.
Fix : As the problem is similar to the Wi-fi Problem, the fix is similar as well. If you fixed the wi-fi problem using above steps then just change the last step of restoration with ” System Data ” which should be named as ” [Settings/Bluetooth] Settings Storage” and not ” Wi-Fi Access Points “. Restart your phone and enjoy the Bug free Lockscreen and Home Button. 🙂
And if you didn’t follow the steps above do the same steps as above just change the last step with the one mentioned above. 🙂

Problem : I can’t receive Calls with this Custom Froyo Rom for Xperia X10
Description : This is similar to the wi-fi not working in Custom froyo rom in Xperia X10 and almost all users are getting this problem where they can’t receive calls but make calls. On dialing their own number they get a busy tone.
Fix : This is similar to wi-fi issue and could be again fixed by restoring from Titanium BackUp, just replace the last step by Restoration of ” System Data “, it should be named as ” [Settings/Bluetooth] Settings Storage “.

Problem : Phonebook doesn’t show contacts with this Custom Froyo Rom for Xperia X10
Description : This is similar to the wi-fi not working in Custom froyo rom in Xperia X10 and almost all users are getting this problem where they don’t see Phonebook Contacts.
Fix : Again the similar issue. Just restore ” Contacts Storage ” with Titanium BackUp. Wondering why i don’t ask you to do a full restore? Check out the next step. 😉

Problem : I get a force close error popup at evey 5sec ” android.process.media stopped working? “
Description : This is encountered when you try to restore all your user data + system data from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2 using Titanium BackUp. A Force Close Popup will constantly appear at every 5secs stating that ” android.process.media stopped working? ”
Fix : This is the reason i didn’t ask you people to restore full backup from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2. If you still did that, you can follow these steps to get rid of that error.
– Open Titanium BackUp go BackUp/Restore Tab and find Music, Tap it once. Choose to Delete the BackUp and Wipe data just above it.
– Do this again for the Gallery App.
– Restart your phone in Custom Froyo Rom and Enjoy the bug Free Media. 😀

Problem : I can not Boot in Android 2.1, Eclair SE Rom any more?
Description : This is more of a trick to get into the the Android 2.1,Eclair Rom at the Boot. Since there is no Boot Menu, it’s difficult for people to figure out how to switch to different Android ROm’s.
Fix : As, i told you this is just a trick to enable dual boot mode and find out how it works with this pre-alpha release of Android 2.2,Froyo Custom Rom for Xperia X10.
To boot into Android 2.1,Eclair SE original ROM, Just Press any button once as soon as you see the Sony Ericsson Appear first on your screen at the time of the boot. If you wait longer it might boot into the Android 2.2,Froyo Custom Rom.

Problem : I want t change the boot Order of my Custom Froyo Rom on Xperia X10?
Description : AS many people find it difficult to switch to different custom rom in Xperia X10 without the proper boot menu, they want to have the SE Original Android 2.1,Eclair rom to be the default to start with and not the Custom Froyo Rom.
Fix : This will enable automatic boot into Sony Ericsson’s Android 2.1, Eclair everytime you reboot. And to boot into Android 2.2, you will have to press any button at the time of startup as stated in fix of the problem above. Steps to change the boot order of Custom Froyo Rom,

– Replace this downloaded folder with the ” chargemon : folder present in /system/bin/
