Sony Ericsson to announce Xperia Arc with Gingerbread at CES 2011-First Pics & Videos

CES 2011 started today with a number of Android Tablets announcements by ASUS and elocity. ( BTW, there would be 84 Tablets to announced in CES 2011! Wooh! ) Now just a few hours before Sony Ericsson’s Press conference today, a Russian site came up with official images of Xperia Arc with Android Gingerbread and sleek arc design. Not only pics, they also managed to grab their hands on the official Video of Xperia Arc which features Mobile Bravia Engine. 😀 This one seems pretty close to what Sony Ericsson have put on the teaser for their Press Conference at CES 2011. And if you remember it is nothing different from the leaked Xperia Anzu.

If you are impatiently looking for what specs this Beauty from Sony Ericsson posses, then i should tell you that this one has a thickness of just 8.7mm at the thinnest point. Amazing! This one also has,
– HD Video recording ( 720p most probably )
– 1Ghz Snapdragon Processor ( Single Core! )
– 8Mp Sony Exmor R Sensor ( with back-lighting helps a lot in low light shooting ) with LED flash
– 4.2 Inch Capacitive Screen with 854×480 Resolution
– Multitouch ( Finally! ) – Protected Mineral Glass
– 1500mAh Battery
– 16Gb External MicroSD Card ( supports upto 32Gb )
– DLNA
– HDMI ( will come with an HDMI cable with box contents )
– Gingerbread ( Can be Updated to Honeycomb – yes it will come with this tag! )
– UXP with Much Improved Timescape & Mediascape
– Mobile Bravia Engine ( For True Life like HD Viewing Pleasure ) – Uses a proprietary technology of Sony Mobile BRAVIA upscales ( promise enhanced clarity and brightness of the picture, especially noticeable when playing video ).

Dimensions of Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc are 125x63x9mm (a little trick here – the thickness of 8.7 mm only in the narrowest part), weight 117 grams. Xperia Arc should appear in this quarter, the price is expected to be around the same level of what it was of Xperia X10 at launch. Enjoy the Video of Xperia Arc for now,

  1. So Manish,

What do you think of the ARC and what is your opinion of it NOT having a front camera?

Personally it is a shame that the Arc does not have a front camera. I found your blog in search of X10 related news, but it looks like the X10 will be my first and last SE smartphone.

Also the Arc has a very low RAM and internal memory compared to the others. SE is nothing but empty promises. SE should be making phones that are on par to say the Atrix or even beyond that!!!

I shall enjoy my X10 for as long as I can…I might even root it in the future.

    Peace,
    ROB

    1. I’m a bit disappointed on not finding the front camera on Xperia Arc otherwise it is a decent enough phone. It would definitely be a phone you would find difficult to resist. To me latest Android Version with SE skin UXP will beat anything. 🙂
Stay tuned for more info on Xperia Arc.
